Original Recipe Yield: 4 servings (10 rotis)
 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Rice flour – and 1/2
  • 1/2 cup Curd –
  • 1 cup Water –
  • 2 medium Onion, finely chopped –
  • leaves Fresh coriander finely chopped – a handful
  • 1 Green chillies, finely chopped –
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds –
  • pinch Asafoetida / Hing – a or two
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder –
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – for shallow frying

Directions:

Mix all the ingredients except water and oil. Now, add water as per the need and form a soft dough. Leave it aside for 15 minutes.

After 15 minutes, heat a tawa/griddle. Now, take two plastic sheets. Dust them with some rice flour. Pinch a large ball of dough place it between the sheets and spread with the help of your palm.

Now, carefully transfer the roti to the hot tawa and on a low flame. Pour a few drops of oil on the sides and flip after a minute. Roast the other side too with a few drops of oil.

Do the same with rest of the dough.

Serve hot, with your choice of chutney or pickle.

Cooks' note:
I have used curd in this recipe but that is optional. You can omit curd and increase the amount of water accordingly.
I have used only onion but you can use your choice of veggies like carrots, capsicum or cabbage etc.
